Synergistic effect of adsorption and carrier separation in g-C3N4/m-SiO2 composite for high effective photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B dyes

摘要:The non-metallic photocatalyst carbon nitride faces the problems of low carrier separation efficiency and small specific surface area in practical applications. In this work, a g-C3N4/mesoporous SiO2 composite was fabricated and used as catalyst to photocatalytic degrade organic dyes. The structural and performance tests of the g-C3N4/m-SiO2 composite indicated that the binding of g-C3N4 and mesoporous SiO2 can boost the photocatalytic activity by accelerating charge separation and increasing the contact ratio between g-C3N4 and dyes. Due to the synergistic effect of adsorption and carrier separation, the obtained optimal g-C3N4/m-SiO2 composites (C2S1 sample) exhibits excellent photocatalytic degradation efficiency (96.7 % in 15 min) for RhB dye. And the obtained photocatalyst also display good degradation efficiency for other cationic dyes. These results showed the potential of hydrogel-based photocatalytic systems for more convenient and reliable usages in environmental remediation.
