糖是生命体的四种生物大分子之一,细胞中具有生物学功能的糖以糖链形式存在,糖链与蛋白质或脂类相结合形成糖缀合物,包括糖鞘脂、糖蛋白、GPI锚定蛋白和蛋白聚糖等。糖链在生命活动中不可或缺,是继DNA链,蛋白质多肽链后生命的第三条复杂多分子结构链。与核酸和蛋白不同的是,糖质结构与功能的高度复杂性赋予其巨大信息容量,目前无法通过遗传密码简单推衍,因此糖质研究成为后基因组时代的重要科学前沿。
糖基化是重要的蛋白质翻译后修饰之一,在多种生物过程中扮演重要角色,包括蛋白质的折叠、蛋白质的降解及细胞间的相互作用等,与癌症等重大疾病的演进密切相关。工作主要围绕着挖掘肿瘤演进过程中异常糖基化修饰,探究其在肿瘤微环境中的生物学功能,开发靶向干预手段等方向系统开展。
