Narrow-linewidth fiber laser with self-injection locking, sagnac loop, and tunable output based on a composite external cavity

摘要:We propose a novel narrow-linewidth fiber laser incorporating a composite external cavity. A fiber Bragg grat ing (FBG) plays a crucial role in this cavity: the transmitted light is reflected back into the main laser, enabling stabilization and linewidth compression, while the reflected light serves as the laser output. Furthermore, by applying axial strain to the FBG to shift its central wavelength, we systematically investigate the relationship between self-injection feedback strength and laser linewidth. The results indicate no significant correlation be tween the self-injection locking strength and the laser linewidth under optical feedback intensity controlled by an FBG, the FBG-assisted self-injection locking significantly stabilizes the laser output, narrowing the linewidth from 2.24 kHz to 1.53 kHz compared to the free-running DBR oscillator. The proposed laser was further tested in a 𝜙 - OTDR system, accurately demodulating 1 kHz vibration signals and demonstrating its excellent phase sensitivity and stability. These findings position the strain-tuned FBG-locked laser as a compact and low-noise solution for applications in coherent communication and high-precision distributed sensing.
