Professor Huang Xiaojun was a visiting scholar at Louisiana State University in the United States.

The research areas include human geography, urban planning, and Central Asian geography. The research interests focus on urban thermal environment, urban green infrastructure, urban social-ecological system, green gentrification, urban resilience and sustainability, Central Asian geopolitics, and Uzbekistan geography.
